About this condition
Hemifacial spasm produces involuntary twitching on one side of the face, usually beginning around the eye. Bell’s palsy instead causes sudden one-sided facial weakness. Both are treated with attention to the nerve, the timeline of onset, and any preceding illness or cold exposure.
Symptoms we see
- Twitching around one eye
- Spasm spreading to cheek and mouth
- One-sided facial weakness
- Difficulty closing one eye
- Drooling or altered speech
- Worse with fatigue or stress
Not every patient has every symptom — and the combination present is precisely what determines the remedy.
