About this condition
A single urinary infection is straightforward; one that returns four or five times a year is a different problem. Treatment here concentrates on recurrence — the burning, urgency and lower abdominal discomfort, and the underlying factors such as diabetes, stones or incomplete bladder emptying that keep inviting infection back.
Important
High fever with loin pain and shivering suggests the infection has reached the kidney and needs urgent medical treatment.
